Fuel efficient motorcycles have always played a key role in keeping the Indian consumer happy because of the mileage and practicality they provide. The TVS Sport is one such motorcycle, and is considered the most frugal bike in India, delivering a fuel economy figure of 95kpl. Apart from the good mileage, it is also equipped with some all-important features and a DuraLife engine that helps reduce the friction in engine components.

The looks

The TVS Sport is a stylish looking commuter with a nice, flowing design language, a large headlight and a contoured tank. It also gets some sporty decals that give it a vibrant persona. It gets black alloy wheels, an all-black engine and a faux chrome-plated muffler. At the rear, it sports a silver grab-handle and a stylish tail light. It is sold in five colours: white with red, black with red, white with purple, Mercury Grey and Volcano Red.

The details

The Sports gets a clear speedometer with a white background, with telltale lights on the left for the high beam, turn indicators, service reminder and neutral, and a digital readout that displays the fuel gauge and odometer. The switchgear and quality of plastics feel quite sturdy, very typical of a TVS.

Power to please

The TVS Sport is powered by a 109.7cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that produces 8bhp and 8.7Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed gearbox. Throttle response is good, and the bike feels refined. It is also very smooth and the engine has a good low-end and mid-range punch; the bike can reach a top speed 90kph. The transmission is slick and the clutch is light.

On the road

Since this is a commuter motorcycle, the handlebars are upright and the foot pegs are set in the front, which allows for a comfortable riding posture. The seat is wide, long and comfortable and very accommodating. The suspension strikes a perfect balance between soft and stiff, and the bike is very flickable. Even in a straight line, the bike feel planted and there’s good feedback from the handlebar. The tyres offer decent grip too.

The final verdict

The TVS Sport certainly justifies its price tag as you get a couple of necessary features; also, it comes across an environment-friendly motorcycle. It is now also BS6-compliant, making it a great, modern, feature-laden bike that is light on the pocket to buy and ride.  Also, grab the latest info on the upcoming bikes, only at autoX.
